Lack of Substance Hurts GOP Challengers.
Here's the main message,
If your message is change, don't just tell me we need change. Tell me WHY we need change and how I'm going to benefit from that change. Cause if you don't ... I'm, sticking with what I know, the Status Quo.
With the 4th of July parades over, it's time to review the campaign literature I collected. By and large, there's no substance in most of the lit. Republicans are scared to take a stand. No one has any backbone, yet candidates try to convince voters that they will be , "fearless leaders and fight hard for the issues we care about most."
For example, I have a piece from a guy who is running for Sheriff. He wants to bring change. Says it's time for accountability and time for change. Problem is, in my mind, things are fine at the Sheriff's office.
This piece was paid for by the local county party, but they've done an EXTREMELY POOR job of setting the stage ... of creating a notion in my mind that there's a problem in the Sheriff's office. That's what the local party should do. Create perceptions that the candidate can use as a springboard. Problem is, most political types understand politics, but they don't understand marketing.
And since this new guy offers no specifics and his lit piece doesn't urge me to his website to find out the "Real Truth" about why we need change so bad ... I'm gonna probably vote for the current Sheriff.
Effective Republican campaign marketing is no different than regular marketing. It's most effective when you are able to convey a BENEFIT to the consumer ... in this case voter. But make no mistake. Voters and consumers are the same thing.
So I will repeat:
If your message is change, don't just tell me we need change. Tell me WHY we need change and how I'm going to benefit from that change. Cause if you don't ... I'm, sticking with what I know ... the Status Quo.

34. Campaigning is about being aggressive and showing the voters how badly you want to help them once they vote and put you in power! It is all about how convincing you are about getting your message over; if you are not able to come over loudly, you are bound to be left out and this is the message being given out to the Republicans - that they have to be more aggressive and try and convince the voters of their commitment!
